This resource is aligned with the Australian Curriculum: Modern History for Senior Secondary students, with specific reference to content descriptions for Unit 1: Understanding the Modern World, and specifically those that fall under the topic elective ‘The Enlightenment (1750–1789)’.

Topic

During the Enlightenment, social and scientific thinking began to change. Enlightenment thinkers pushed for social change through the separation of church and state and the establishment of constitutional government. 

Recordings of folk songs and dance music from Queensland and also stories, legends and recollections of customs and immigrant settlement, particularly German and Scandinavian in rural Queensland.

Children aged 8 to 15 years of age were invited to join artKids for a comic drawing workshop during the school holidays.

We screened the original 1995 Jumanji film in our Theatre for families to enjoy watching (or re-watching).

To coincide with our exhibition Viewfinder: Photography from the 1970s to Now, we partnered with PhotoAccess ACT for a special school holiday workshop.
